What is Yoga?
Yoga means to unite the body, mind and soul.
Yoga is an ancient art, science and philosophy. The postures we practice in class (Asana) are a small part of Yoga philosophy, which is a method to ease suffering and achieve enlightenment.
Yoga has many physical and mental benefits. It promotes balance, flexibility, strength and inner peace.
Whatever the reason you come to yoga, it should be fun, non-competitive and safe. We believe that any contact with the teachings of yoga can improve life. “As honey is sweet from any part of the honeycomb, so is yoga” (BKS Iyengar, 1993. Light on the Yoga Sutras of Patanjali).
About Janelle

She earned her 200-hour Teacher Certification in 2008 with Eileen Muir at Karuna Center for Yoga and the Healing Arts. In 2020, She completed a 300-hour Advanced Teacher Training at Karuna with Paul Menard. Janelle’s background and brief career as a ballet dancer informs her physical approach to yoga.
Experience and Motivation
Janelle’s motivation to study yoga more deeply and share it with others comes from the peace that she finds in the practice. She earned her PhD. in Geography in 2011 and taught for several years at Worcester State University in a full and part time capacity before moving to Venice.

About Matthew
Matthew Barlow believes that yoga isn’t just something we practice on a mat—it’s a way of life, a way of being. His personal spiritual practices are a blend of bhakti and jnana yogas rooted in the Indian philosophy of Advaita Vedanta (non-duality). He began practicing yoga and meditation in 2015, and received his yoga teaching certification from Asheville Yoga Center in the summer of 2024.
In addition to teaching yoga, Matthew works with a range of singing bowls and other instruments exploring the benefits of sound as a means for personal insight, anxiety and stress relief, and developing mindfulness and concentration

The main entrance to the studio is in the front of the building. However, when the parking lot is busy, we like to park in the back as a courtesy to neighboring businesses whose entrances are only in the front. People with physical challenges and private clients should park in the front and enter through the front door.
Please remove your shoes as you enter the studio.
